What is the most affordable hair to do crochet braids with? While there are many grades of hair on the market, for example Freetress, human hair, Marley hair and much more there are also very inexpensive brands which would give you similar natural looking results just like Marley hair.
The look in this was image was my first attempt at applying Crochet braids to my natural hair and I wanted to try some affordable hair just incase the hair did not turn out right. So I purchased three packs of Kanekalon hair to try it. I was pleasantly surprised with the results but I must admit there are some pros and cons to using this type or hair according to the brand. I used the Sensational hair brand as it was the most affordable brand to me, but you could try another brand.
- The hair is cheap
- It apply’s nicely and evenly
- It looks really natural
- Could look like a natural afro
- Styles easily and very versatile
- Very easy to curl
- It could be worn as is or you could curl it
- You could wear it straight
- Not limited to one style
- If you blow dry the hair on your own it will be very time consuming and stressful according to how thick you do it
- According to the brand of hair chosen, the hair could burn while using flat iron.
- Keep a moderate temperature below 400 degrees while using this braid
- Hair does not last long if heat was applied to it
- It begins to matte easily if you do not take proper care of it
- Hair feels dry quickly if not properly moisturized
That being said it is very good hair to experiment with if you are a 1st timer like myself as you only loose a few dollars if it does not turn out good. You could always remove the hair and try gain. Below I will leave a list of items needed to achieve the look in the above image and also a video tutorial. 6 open the hook and insert a piece of the kanekalon hair braid into it and close the hook
7 Pull the hook through then stick your finger through the space you made with the hooked hair and pull through the hair on the other side
8 You could pull it through once or two times for added security
